Horseshoe Falls is a temporary waterfall that forms on the west side of El Capitan when conditions are just right. It it appears only on a warm sunny winter day when snow from the cliff top melts and forms a small wispy waterfall by day's end. At this time of year, the sun sets down the canyon at the entrance to Yosemite Valley, and the curve of the cliff face just catches the warm glow of the last rays of the day. filename: 060223-ysm-0241 master
